Raised outside of Hinton Alberta, Mary-Lee Bird has ventured from her small community and is now based in Edmonton Alberta. She continues to alternate studies, odd jobs, and performing. Bird has led projects as well as been a side musician performing as vocalist, keyboardist, and trombonist. Some acts that she has performed alongside include Utopian Skank, The Raygun Cowboys, The Django Collective, and The Mad Caddies. Her writing puts equal focus on music and lyrics. Bird joined forces with other Edmonton musicians to release Setting up The Carnival (January 2014), a ten song album that explores themes of identity, addiction, and ideology. Mary-Lee and drummer Kris Bridge will be trekking across the country to share their duo sound at the beginning of November. The two met in 2009 and are well known on Edmonton’s Whyte Avenue for their busking together.
