Daniel Gervais (fiddle) and Clinton Pelletier (guitar) have been playing music together for over ten years. This electric folk/jazz fusion show will also feature Keith Rempel (upright bass) and Thom Bennett (drums) with selections from Mike Stern to the Flecktones, to Swedish folk rock and Gypsy Jazz. There will be an opening act by songwriter sensation Braden Gates.
Daniel Gervais is the first and only Albertan to win the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Championship. Some performance highlights include the 2012 London Olympics, 100th Grey Cup in Toronto and tours in France. He completed a Masters of Music degree at the University of Alberta and currently teaches as sessional faculty for the music program at MacEwan University
Clinton Pelletier is one of Western Canada’s premiere guitarists. Clint grew up under the musical tutelage of his father, Freddie Pelletier. When Clint is not gigging, he owns and operates a recording studio, ReelTime Studios, as well as a music school, Planet Music. Clinton and Daniel won Instrumental Album of the Year at the 2010 Western Canadian Music Awards with their debut gypsy jazz album, Hot Club Edmonton.
From Edmonton, Alberta, Braden Gates is quickly becoming one of the most intriguing singer/songwriters in the province. A born raconteur in both his songwriting and song introductions, he is often compared to a young Loudon Wainwright: for his similar grimacing as he hits the notes and the sharpness of his observation and sly humor. Drawn to those with a story to tell, Gates aims to communicate these stories in a way that brings people together – which is often the case in one of his intimate live shows. Gates’ second album, Ferris Wheel, is a combination of intricate guitar work, driving fiddle playing and honest story telling.
