Nature Of as a band is exactly as it sounds: a collective of artists with infinite potential, an organic energy, and something to say. Over the past year since their assembly, the five-piece band has been writing music together while constantly evolving and developing a unique and deeply intimate sound. Since their first live performance, Nature Of has been seen at many venues all around the Edmonton area and also completed a short tour to the Canadian west coast performing in Kamloops and Tofino.
This spring, the band went on their first ever full Canadian tour, with one of the stops being at a Canadian Music Week Artist Showcase in Toronto that the band was awarded after winning first place at an Edmonton Battle of the Bands. The release of a 4 song EP earned them a spot on the CJSR Edmonton Earshot’s Top 30 Chart at #16, and a track from the EP was awarded “Song of the Week” on CJSR’s Full English Breakfast program. With all the performing they have done over the past year the band has begun to pick up pace and are currently working on the self-recording of their debut album, which will be available sometime this year.
They have captured the attention of listeners and bring something new to every show for returning audiences. With their honest music and modest attitude, Nature Of is sure to continue progressing and inspiring for years to come.
It’s been an eventful past four years for Saskatoon’s Gunner & Smith. Starting in 2010 as a solo project by folk artist Geoff Smith, the band evolved into a multi-member indie country rock ensemble that traverses the rocky line between post-prairies balladeering and grit-covered rockers for those given to heavy highway drives and long, expansive thoughts.
